When I Think About Love

24 03 2010

My buddy Shauna texted me to watch the following vid this morning and I just had to post.  Here’s the official video of Ryan Leslie’s When I Think About Love for Adidas Originals. I’m more of a Nike guy myself, but R. Les in Times Square has “win” written all over it.

Rules (Still) Don’t Stop

23 03 2010

I wanted to repost this because it is that awe-f-cking-some.  See what I did there?  If you add the word “f-cking” after the first syllable of any adjective it automatically emphasizes that word a hundredfold.  It’s true.

Note: This doesn’t work with one syllable words.  Sorry, I didn’t make the rules.

Nujabes

18 03 2010

R.I.P. to Jun Seba, also known as Nujabes. Truly a master at his craft, he will be missed. I believe a Samurai Champloo marathon is definitely in order this evening.

Rule’s Don’t Stop

8 03 2010

With the budget of a 30 Seconds To Mars clip, the raw fx firepower of James Cameron’s Avatar, and the intensively rehearsed, flawless timing of an OK Go video, the new music vid from We Are Scientists proves once and for all that rules — ahem — truly do not stop these New York City dynamos.

OK Go – This Too Shall Pass

2 03 2010

I’m not the hugest fan of OK Go, but their videos are nearly always something to watch. This one here is no exception.

Plushgun – Kiss Me Now (And I’ll Fade Away)

2 03 2010

I decided to break this one out of the vault, and I’m glad I did. I mean, what’s not to like about a song that…

  • has a ukulele in it. The ukulele has to be the most likeable instrument ever invented. Try and find something unpleasant to say about the ukulele. I dare you.
  • has a singer that looks like the love child of Seth Rogen and DCfC frontman Ben Gibbard.
  • has an awesome video. Check it out.

Top 10 for February ‘10

1 03 2010

Here are the top 10 songs played in my iPod for last month. Be forewarned that there’s quite a bit of mushy sentimental stuff here. You can blame that on Valentines day. What can I say? I’m a sucker for overrated commercial holidays.

  1. Plushgun – Kiss Me Now (And I’ll Fade Away)
  2. Test Your Reflex – Thinking of You
  3. Maccabees – Toothpaste Kisses
  4. We Are Scientists – Be My Baby
  5. Minus the Bear – Pachuca Sunrise
  6. The Decemberists – Red Right Ankle
  7. Athlete – Half Light
  8. The Wannadies – You & Me Song
  9. EELS – Fresh Feeling
  10. Daft Punk – Something About Us

Broken Bells

12 02 2010

I haven’t been looking forward to much as far as music releases go so far this year, but I’m definitely anticipating the debut album from Broken Bells. Comprised of super producer Danger Mouse and The Shins lead man James Mercer, Broken Bells sounds like it should have some promise. Gorillaz Lite anyone?

Check out their lead single The Higher Road and expect their debut self-titled album on March 9th.
