Where the Wild Things Are x T.I. Fest

15 10 2009

Action packed weekend on deck.  I’ve been looking forward to this for quite sometime.  Here’s the rundown…

Spike Jonze’s movie adaption of Where the Wild Things Are is finally out in theatres!!  It goes without saying that I’ve been anticipating this for quite sometime.  Just thinking about one of my favorite directors taking on one of my favorite childhood stories gets me all kinds of excited.  It’ll be interesting to see how 10 sentences of text gets turned into a full length movie.  In case you’ve been living under a rock…

Next up is the Treasure Island Festival this weekend.  Quite the lineup.

So who am I most excited to see at T.I. Fest?  Passion Pit.

Anywhere With You

15 10 2009

There’s nothing like finding a song you can totally relate to when you’re in a bit of a funk.  It’s like having someone sort out your thoughts for you.  In musical form nonetheless.  How awesome is that?

Add this to the soundtrack of my life.

Insomnia

With insomnia, nothing’s real.

Everything’s far away.

Everything’s a copy, of a copy, of a copy.

Glorious Excess (Dies)

30 09 2009

This is just a reminder that this will be the last weekend that Mike Shinoda’s latest exhibit will be on display at the Japanese American National Museum. I haven’t gotten the chance to check it out yet, so I’m stoked to see it this weekend. If you need more info you can find it here.

Rain Dance

29 09 2009

I’m convinced getting my car washed is the equivalent of a Native American rain dance. Tell me why we’ve been having weather around 100 degrees for the past few weeks, I decide to get my car washed and all of a sudden it’s overcast and drizzling the next day. I’m just sayin’.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

29 09 2009

One of my favorite quotes from my man Ralph Waldo Emerson. Not only is it one of the most profound things I’ve ever read, but it’s also one of the longest sentences I’ve ever encountered. Can’t be mad at that.

“To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition, to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived, THIS is to have succeeded.” -RWE

Typhoon Ondoy Relief

28 09 2009

I’m sure by now many of you have heard about the damage that Typhoon Ondoy has brought to the Philippines. If you haven’t, the storms that took place just the other day brought a month’s worth of rainfall to the greater Manila area in just a few hours. The severe flooding caused by the storm has resulted in the loss of many lives and damage to hundreds of thousands of homes.

So what can you do to help? For monetary donations please visit The Philippine National Red Cross. For those of you in the San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, and New Jersey areas that would prefer to make donations in the form of clothes, blankets, medical supplies, etc., please visit here for a list of drop-off sites.

Another…

27 09 2009

…great weekend in the books.  A random night with good friends, Kid Cudi, and an awesome 49er game (despite the L).  Here’s a crappy pic from the Kid Cudi show, but it’s all I got.  I even got splashed with some Cudder’s Cristal like I was a stripper or something.  How cool is that?

Shouts:

  • To the F-cked Up Friday crew.  Good times as always.
  • Mary F-ckin’ Tran and Nicole for being so hospitable this weekend.  We’ll have to do it again soon.
  • Linda & Jen for working their magic to get us in the venue.  I’ve never jumped a line that long that fast before…and for $FREE.99!!
